Inclusión educativa y pedagogía Montessori

Abstract

Resumen La presente investigación persigue acercarse a la respuesta que se da desde el método Montessori a la inclusión educativa y a la atención a la diversidad. La educación inclusiva promueve una enseñanza accesible para todos los niños y niñas que facilite entornos de aprendizaje flexibles partiendo del principio de equidad. Esta se fundamenta en el desarrollo de una educación que valora y respeta las diferencias concibiéndolas como oportunidades de desarrollo personal y social. Por su lado, la educación Montessori plantea la protección del desarrollo del individuo desde su nacimiento. Se trata de una educación basada en la vida como centro de su propia función en lugar de sentar las bases en programas preestablecidos. Se plantea una investigación basada en la revisión bibliográfica de fuentes especializadas en la educación inclusiva y en el método de la Pedagogía Científica, y en entrevistas a cinco profesionales Montessori. Encontramos que Montessori tiene en su naturaleza la atención individualizada que se necesita para implementar una educación inclusiva y que desde la óptica de este método pedagógico se tienen en cuenta las singularidades de cada niño/a al margen de su edad cronológica. Básicamente, el elemento clave y determinante en el que confluyen la pedagogía Montessori y la inclusión educativa es la respuesta educativa individual que da Montessori a cada niño y que es también requisito indispensable de una acción educativa inclusiva. Resulta revelador y enriquecedor tomar conciencia de la necesidad del trabajo en equipo que se debe dar en las escuelas y la importancia de estar actualizados en cuanto a formación en educación inclusiva y atención a la diversidad. Abstract The present investigation seeks to approach the response that is given from the Montessori method to educational inclusion and attention to diversity. Inclusive education promotes an accessible learning for every child which facilitates flexible learning environments based on the principle of equity. It is based in the development of an education that values and respects their differences, seeing them as opportunities of personal and social development. For its part, Montessori education raises the protection of individual development from birth. It is about an education based on life as the center of its own function instead of laying the foundations in pre-established programs. An investigation is proposed based on the bibliographic review of specialized sources in inclusive education and in the method of Scientific Pedagogy, and in interviews with five Montessori professionals. We find that Montessori has in its nature the individualized attention that is needed to implement an inclusive education and that from the point of view of this pedagogical method, the singularities of each child are considered regardless of their chronological age. The key and determining element in which Montessori pedagogy and educational inclusion come together is the individual educational response that Montessori gives to each child, and which is also an essential requirement for inclusive educational action. It is revealing and enriching to become aware of the need for teamwork that must take place in schools and the importance of being up to date in terms of training in inclusive education and attention to diversity.
