Traducción y análisis traductológico de la obra Keepers of the Night de Michael J. Caduto y Joseph Bruchac

Abstract

En este Trabajo de Fin de Grado, vamos a poder acercarnos en la cultura indígena nativo-americana, a través del libro Keepers of the Night de Michael J. Caduto y Joseph Bruchac. El planteamiento de este trabajo es traducir algunas de los mitos que contiene este libro de un modo que nos permita conocer la cultura de salida y que a la vez sea entendible en la cultura meta. Primeramente, se mostrará la introducción, el porqué de la elección de este tema, los objetivos que tratan de alcanzarse en este trabajo y la metodología. Seguidamente, se mostrarán las diferentes teorías y técnicas que se usarán. Después, se traducirán los mitos escogidas del inglés al español y a continuación habrá una reflexión tanto de los métodos traductológicos usados como de los problemas que han surgido en el transcurso de la traducción. Finalmente, se valorarán todos estos factores a través de unas conclusiones que nos permitirán valorar la consecución de los objetivos inicialmente previstos.

In this Final Degree Project, we will be able to get closer to the Native-American indigenous culture, through the book “Keepers of the Night” by Michael J. Caduto and Joseph Bruchac. The approach of this work is to translate some of the myths contained in this book in a way that allows us to know the source culture and at the same time be understandable in the target culture. First of all, the introduction will be shown, the reason of choosing this topic, the objectives that are sought to be achieved in this work and the methodology of it. After that, we will see the different theories and techniques that will be used. Then, the biography of the authors and the plot of the book will be shown. Also, the chosen myths from English to Spanish will be translated and then there will be a reflection of both the translation methods used and the problems that have arisen in the course of the translation. Finally, all these factors will be assessed through conclusions that will allow us to assess the achievement of the initially planned objectives.
