El sufragi femení al Regne Unit a través de la traducció de textos jurídics

Abstract

Aquest treball de final de grau inclou la traducció de quatre textos jurídics sobre el sufragisme britànic que ens en permeten explicar la seva història des dels inicis fins a l’obtenció del vot femení sense restriccions el 1928. Les fases del treball engloben tot el procés traductològic. En primer lloc, s’ha dut a terme una recerca de textos històrics. En segon lloc, s’ha fet la recerca teòrica sobre la història del sufragisme i la tipologia de textos que s’han traduït. En tercer lloc, s’ha dut a terme un buidatge terminològic dels textos i l’elaboració de les fitxes terminològiques amb els termes d’especialitat escollits. En quart lloc, s’ha continuat amb la lectura i l’anàlisi dels textos originals, la recerca de textos paral·lels i la traducció. Finalment, s’han detallat els problemes de traducció que s’han hagut d’afrontar i se n’han justificat les solucions adoptades.

This final paper includes the translation of four legal texts on British suffragism affording the understanding of its history from the beginning until the passing of the Representation of the People Act in 1928. The phases of this paper cover all stages of the translating process. In the first phase research of historical texts was accomplished. In the second phase, theoretical research on the history of suffragism and the typology of texts that have been translated was performed. In the third phase, extraction of terminology and preparation of records of the most significant specialized vocabulary of choice was executed. The fourth phase is the continuation of reading and analysis of original texts and search for parallel texts and their translation. The final phase consists of a commentary on the translation aiming to explain in detail both the issues that we had to deal with, and to justify the solutions adopted.
