Efecte dels subsidis aquàtics sobre la xarxa tròfica terrestre al voltant de llacunes mediterrànies dels Aiguamolls de l’Empordà

Abstract

Amb aquest estudi es pretén determinar els efectes que provoquen les entrades de nutrients provinents de basses mediterrànies sobre la xarxa tròfica terrestre propera a cadascuna d’elles. Per fer-ho s’han estudiat l’abundància d’insectes aquàtics emergents (responsables del flux de matèria i energia entre els ecosistemes aquàtic i terrestre) de tres basses situades als Aiguamolls de l’Empordà i l’espectre de mides dels invertebrats terrestres propers a les basses. Fins ara, encara no s’havia dut a terme cap estudi que relacionés aquests dos factors. S’han pres mostres d’insectes aquàtics emergents i d’invertebrats terrestres per a cadascuna de les tres basses estudiades: l’Estany d’en Túries, la Bassa Connectada i la Bassa Tamariu, situades a l’Alt Empordà. Dels insectes aquàtics se n'han obtingut les abundàncies i dels invertebrats terrestres se n’han obtingut les abundàncies i se n’han pres les mides de la llargada dels individus trobats. Les dades obtingudes s’han tractat estadísticament mitjançant ANOVA i regressions. Els resultats de l’anàlisi estadística ens diuen que no existeix una clara relació entre les abundàncies d’individus d’ambdós medis, ni entre l’abundància d’insectes aquàtics emergents i les mides dels invertebrats terrestres dels sistemes adjacents. D’altra banda, s’observa que les mides dels invertebrats terrestres es veuen afectades per factors com la bassa al voltant de la qual es troben, la distància a aquesta, o l’ordre al qual pertanyen els individus. Tot i així, caldria dur a terme un estudi més extens per tal d’ampliar les dades amb les quals es treballa i poder observar la relació entre els dos ecosistemes, així com poder detectar patrons de canvis de mides al llarg del temps. Cal tenir en compte que l’estudi s’ha dut a terme en un any molt sec i amb poca emergència d’insectes aquàtics.

This study aims to determine the effects that the nutrient inputs from Mediterranean ponds cause to the terrestrial food web of nearby ecosystems. To do so, we studied emerging aquatic insects’ abundance (responsible for the energy and material fluxes between the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems) from three ponds located in the Empordà Wetlands and the size-spectrum of the terrestrial invertebrates near the ponds. Up until now, there is no study that relates these two factors. Emerging aquatic insects’ and terrestrial invertebrates’ samples have been taken from each of the three ponds studied: Estany d’en Túries, Bassa Connectada and Bassa Tamariu, located in the Alt Empordà, in Catalonia. We obtained the abundances of aquatic insects and the abundances and length sizes of the terrestrial invertebrates individuals found. The obtained data has been statistically analyzed using ANOVA and regressions. The results of the statistical analysis show that there is not a clear relationship between the two ecosystem individuals’ abundances, not between the emerging aquatic insects’ abundance and the terrestrial invertebrates’ size from adjacent systems. On the other hand, it’s observed that the terrestrial invertebrates’ sizes are affected by factors such as the pond around which they are found, the distance to the pond, or the taxonomic order to which the individuals belong. That aside, it should be carried out a more extensive study in order to acquire more data to work with and to be able to observe the actual relationship between the two ecosystems and also detect size-changes patterns through the time. It must be said that the study was carried out in a very dry year, with poor emerging aquatic insects.
