Análisis de la traducción de un artículo científico

Abstract

En este trabajo de fin de grado se lleva a cabo la traducción de un artículo científico del inglés al español. Además, se redactan los rasgos característicos de este tipo de textos y se realiza un análisis comentando las principales dificultades de la traducción científica y los procedimientos utilizados para efectuarla. Para ello, es fundamental realizar una documentación y búsqueda a diversas fuentes bibliográficas, las cuales sirven de ayuda para desarrollar todos los apartados incluidos en el trabajo. El artículo científico original, titulado Eating habits, beliefs, attitudes and knowledge among health professionals regarding the links between obesity, nutrition and health, consta de 4.574 palabras y su temática está relacionada con el ámbito médico. Su contenido trata sobre un estudio realizado a partir de una encuesta completada por médicos de cabecera y enfermeras de atención primaria —escogidos de listados de la Information and Statistics Division (División de Información y Estadística) de Escocia— y dietistas —miembros de la Asociación Británica de Dietética en Escocia—, en la que se evalúa los hábitos alimentarios, las creencias, las actitudes y el conocimiento de cada grupo de profesional sanitario en el campo de la obesidad, la nutrición y la salud. Este escrito fue publicado el 2004 en la página web de la Cambridge University Press.

This end-of-degree project deals with the translation of a scientific article from English into Spanish. In addition, the characteristic features of such type of texts were written and an analysis of the main difficulties of the scientific translation and the procedures used to perform it were noted down. Therefore, it was essential to make a research to various literature sources, which were useful to help me develop all sections of the paper. The original scientific article entitled Eating habits, beliefs, attitudes and knowledge among health professionals regarding the links between obesity, nutrition and health, consists of 4,574 words and its topic is related to the medical field. Its content deals with a study from a survey carried out by GPs and practice nurses —chosen from listings of the Information and Statistics Division in Scotland— and dietitians —members of the British Dietetic Association in Scotland—, which evaluates eating habits, beliefs, attitudes and knowledge of every health professional group in the field of obesity, nutrition and health. This document was published in 2004 on the website of the Cambridge University Press.
