Els retrats d’Adele Bloch-Bauer : procediment d’arbitratge internacional

Abstract

L’interès primordial que ha suscitat aquest estudi és l’anàlisi i la traducció d’un document d’àmbit jurídic poc treballat durant la carrera. El text escollit tracta sobre les possibles interpretacions legals d’una provisió testamentària d’Adele Bloch-Bauer dins del procediment d’arbitratge de Maria Altmann contra la República d’Àustria per a la restitució del patrimoni jueu expropiat durant la II Guerra Mundial. Atesa la complexitat del document, aquest estudi representa un nou repte pel que fa a la tipologia, la terminologia, la traducció i, fins i tot, la contextualització històrica. Els objectius principals són dur a terme un encàrrec de traducció jurídica en el qual es posaran en pràctica les destreses i els coneixements adquirits durant el grau, així com també optar a l’habilitació per a traductora jurada d’anglès-català. Tal com s’especificarà més endavant, s’emprarà la metodologia proposada durant la carrera; és a dir, recerca del document objecte d’estudi, realització d’un glossari terminològic juntament amb la identificació de les possibles incidències lingüístiques, cerca de textos paral•lels, traducció del text, anàlisi traductològic i aplicació de les estratègies de traducció i, finalment, treball de posttraducció.

The primary interest which this study is motivated is to analyse and translate a legal document which has been barely worked during the degree. The chosen text is about the possible legal constructions of an Adele Bloch-Bauer’s testamentary disposition within the Maria Altmann’s arbitral case against the Austrian Republic regarding to the restitution of the expropriated Jewish assets during the II Wold War. Because of the complexity of the document, this work means a new challenge regarding to typology, terminology, translation and even historical contextualization. The main objectives are to perform a translation project in which it will be shown all the skills and knowledge acquired, as well as to opt for the sworn translation entitlement. As it will be specified later, it will be used the methodology proposed during the degree: search for an original document, preparation of a glossary of terms combined with a first identification of the possible linguistic problems, search of parallel texts, translating analyse combined with the solution of the linguistic problems and, finally, the posttranslating work.
