Evaluación de los beneficios del Método Mézières incluido al programa de fisioterapia respiratoria de los pacientes con enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica

Abstract

La Enfermedad Pulmonar Obstructiva Crónica (EPOC), es un trastorno respiratorio causado mayoritariamente por el tabaquismo y caracterizado por una obstrucción progresiva y parcialmente reversible de las vías respiratorias, hiperinflación pulmonaria, manifestaciones sistémicas, expectoración anormal. Es la tercera causa de mortalidad en el mundo y se clasifica en 2: el enfisema y la bronquitis crónica. Nos centraremos en el aumento de deformaciones posturales, de la ansiedad y del dolor, la disnea tal como el deterioro de la calidad de vida y de las capacidades funcionales respiratorias que implican el enfisema. El tratamiento indicado para esta patología es la fisioterapia respiratoria, pero nos gustaría encontrar herramientas que puedan aumentar la adhesión del paciente al tratamiento, actuando en el máximo de síntomas posibles. Es por eso que propongo el Método Mézières, y estudiaremos los beneficios de este método incluido al programa de fisioterapia respiratoria de los pacientes con EPOC. Para hacer nuestro ensayo clínico aleatorizado, hemos pedido a 72 pacientes voluntarios del servicio de neumología del hospital de la Princesa , Madrid, de participar al estudio. Estos pacientes serán repartidos en 2 grupos de 36 pacientes. El grupo experimental será el grupo en el cual aplicaremos el tratamiento de fisioterapia respiratoria convencional y el Método Mézières. El grupo control será el grupo en el cual aplicaremos el mismo tratamiento convencional pero sin el método Mézières.

The Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (CODP) is a respiratory disorder, mainly caused by smoking and characterized by progressive and partially reversible airway obstruction, pulmonary hyperinflation, systemic manifestations, abnormal expectoration. It’s the third leading cause of death in the world, and it could be classified in: emphysema and chronic bronchitis. We will focus on the augmentation of postural strain, anxiety, pain, dyspnea, and deterioration of quality of life and functional capabilities produced by the emphysema. The indicated treatment for this disease is the respiratory physiotherapy, but we would like to found another way to increase patient adherence to the treatment, acting in the maximum of the symptoms. It’s why we propose the Mézières method, and we will study the benefits of this method included in the respiratory physiotherapy of the patients with CODP. To make our randomized clinical trial, we asked 72 volunteer patients of the pulmonology department of the Hospital of La Princesa, Madrid, to participate to the study. These patients will be divided into 2 groups of 36 patients. The experimental group will be the group that apply the conventional treatment of respiratory physiotherapy and the Mézières method. The control group will be the group which will apply the same standard treatment but without the Mézières method.
